Monday Jan 06, 2020
Monday Jan 06, 2020
Germany's Timo Bernhard is too young to be hailed as a legend, but his record in sports car racing, with overall victories at Le Mans, class victories at Daytona, and multiple championships spread across the American Le Mans Series and FIA World Endurance Championship suggest his body of work will be hailed as one of the greatest accomplishments for any driver in the 2000s.
Having announced his retirement in December, Bernhard called in to discuss his extraordinary career and what the future might hold in a special feature captured for the Marshall Pruett Podcast.

MP 716: Porsche 911 RSR In-Car Audio, Sebring 2019
Monday Dec 30, 2019
Monday Dec 30, 2019
Say hello to 2020 with the trumpet of the gods.
In the first of a multi-part feature captured in collaboration with Porsche North America, we have in-car audio from the glorious Porsche 911 RSR to offer, taken from the tail of the championship-winning IMSA GT Le Mans machines during practice for the 2019 Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
Anticipating the arrival of the new 911 RSR with its side-mounted exhausts, we wanted to preserve the cry of the original 911 RSR, done by placing our recorder just above the screaming 4.0-liter flat-six engine's rear-facing exhaust fury. For this episode, you're riding with Nick Tandy, Patrick Pilet, and Fred Makowiecki in a race they'd go on to win!
More episodes recorded from Road America, Laguna Seca, and Road Atlanta in 2019 will follow.

MP 715: First Wings at Indy, with Mario Andretti and Bobby Unser
Sunday Dec 29, 2019
Sunday Dec 29, 2019
Racing legends Mario Andretti and Bobby Unser visit the Marshall Pruett Podcast to take us back to Indianapolis in the late 1960s where wings were first allowed at the 500. Uncle Bobby would win his first of three Indy 500s in 1968, the last year without wings, and Andretti followed in 1969, winning 50 years ago while making use of wings for the first time.
Both men, starting with Andretti, discuss the development of aerofoils and the introduction of meaningful downforce to the Indy 500, which went through a rapid series of developments into the 1970s and early 1980s, where Unser scored his final Indy 500 win.
It's the testing, trials, and failures in bringing wings to Indy, as told by two of the most technically savvy icons the sport has known.

Sunday Dec 29, 2019
Sunday Dec 29, 2019
One of the most exciting surprises from 2019 was delivered by Porsche North America and Coca-Cola as the two iconic brands reunited for a one-off collaboration at IMSA's season finale at Petit Le Mans as the Nos. 911 and 912 Porsche 911 RSRs wore liveries that paid tribute to the Porsche race cars of the 1980s that carried Coke's branding.
In a special feature on the Marshall Pruett Podcast, the three people from Porsche who were responsible for the concept and creation of the throwback program with Porsche, Dave Engelman, spokesperson for Motorsports and Brand Heritage, Scott DeVault, E-Performance marketing manager, and Scott Bartlett, Motorsports & Driving Events manager, tell the backstory of how an idea turned into a raging success for the 2019 IMSA GT Le Mans champions.

The incident, and his unfathomable response to Fittipaldi after climbing from the battered car is, as he shares, no less remarkable 30 years after it took place.
