In the new episode of the Week In Sports Cars on the Marshall Pruett podcast, Pruett and DailySportsCar.com editor Graham Goodwin open with a deep dive into Alonsogate, the plusses and minuses contained within the Le Mans, WEC, and ELMS entry lists, silly driver ratings oversights, IMSA’s upcoming test at Sebring, and then tear into listener Q&A with topics ranging from the WEC’s auto-BoP process for its factory GT cars, sports car racing on ovals, whether non-hybrid LMP1s should form the basis of IMSA’s next DPi formula, and how to keep escalating costs from killing GT4.

Tuesday Feb 13, 2018
Tuesday Feb 13, 2018
It's the one-year anniversary episode for the Week In IndyCar on the Marshall Pruett Podcast, and we have my original co-host Robin Miller, reigning IndyCar champion Josef Newgarden, and four-time Champ Car title-winning race engineer Craig Hampson here to celebrate and discuss the big Phoenix Open Test.
After Phoenix, Newgarden answers plenty of fan Q&A, starting with Josef's interest in F1, the pass he pulled on Team Penske teammate Simon Pagenaud at Gateway, and which driver(s) he'd like to have as a teammate in the future standing out among many great inquiries.
For Hampson, who serves as Sebastien Bourdais' engineer at Dale Coyne Racing, thoughts on engine development for 2018, the addition of Jimmy Vasser and James Sullivan to DCR, lingering feelings on Seb's big Indy crash, a great Paul Newman story from his time with Bourdais at Newman/Haas Racing, and his opinions on Kurt Busch's talent in an Indy car after running him at the 2014 Indy 500 for Andretti Autosport are part of the first episode for Year 2 of the Week In IndyCar podcast.

It had to happen. After many of the 15 guests on the first series of Who The Hell Are You? insisted the host should suffer through his own questions, Marshall Pruett is grilled--politely so--by FOX's Justin Bell, who served as the 15th and final proper guest in season 1.

MP 254: The Week In Sports Cars, Jan. 31, with Graham Goodwin
Wednesday Jan 31, 2018
Wednesday Jan 31, 2018
Marshall Pruett and DailySportsCar.com editor Graham Goodwin kick off a new series that reviews major sports car racing events.
The debut episode on the Marshall Pruett Podcast covers IMSA's season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona, Fernando Alonso's Toyota WEC plans, Anthony Davidson's reduced role in the program, and most of the highlights and lowlights that occurred during five days of WeatherTech SportsCar Championship developments in Florida. From repeated tire failures to strange penalties to imbalanced BoP, there was plenty to improve, and at the other end, big crowds, enthusiastic teams and drivers, and hearty racing from one IMSA class in particular are taken for a spin by Pruett and Goodwin.

Monday Jan 22, 2018
Monday Jan 22, 2018
Standing at the precipice of his final race, Scott Pruett visits the Marshall Pruett Podcast to discuss his life growing up in Northern California, his family’s heavy influence in the 50-year career he’s about to close, the extreme importance karting played in his development, getting his first shot as a pro in sports cars, the move to Jack Roush Racing that changed his world, the fierce—and sometimes fisticuff-laden--time in IMSA GTO and Trans-Am with Willy T. Ribbs, Paul Newman, and other legends of the era, and his one-off Formula 1 test with the Larrousse Calmels team in 1987.
Part 2, spanning his time in IMSA GTP and IndyCar, will be the subject of the next recording with the 57-year-old phenom, and more episodes will follow to capture his peerless career.

MP 249: Strangest Cars I've Raced, Owen Trinkler, 1997 Keiler Kopf WSC
Monday Jan 22, 2018
Monday Jan 22, 2018
The Strangest Cars I’ve Raced series continues continues on the Marshall Pruett Podcast with Owen Trinkler and the bizarre 1997 Keiler Kopf IMSA World Sports Car. Named after a German boar, built on top of a failed Chevron WSC, with homemade bodywork that copied the era’s dominant Riley & Scott Mk III, it could be the most confused prototype from the late 1990s. Trinkler takes us back to its debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona with motocross legend Jeff Ward and Indy Lights veteran Roberto Quintanilla where, aside from top speed and competitiveness, the American entry found a strange place of its own on the grid.

MP 248: Who The Hell Are You, Justin Bell?
Monday Jan 22, 2018
Monday Jan 22, 2018
Sports car ace and FOX broadcaster Justin Bell is the 15th and final Who The Hell Are You? guest on the Marshall Pruett Podcast. Recorded in front of a small audience, Bell's innate humor is the perfect closer to the first series, and a second edition is already in the works for later this year.
Bell's episode quote: “'Tis a dangerous thing when a man with no boundaries (Marshall) asks a man with no limits (me) questions to gain insight into my life. In our politically correct world I think I need to write two books. One to be read while I am alive. The other when I am truly gone. Chatting with Marshall made me realize the second one is the only one that counts.”

Monday Jan 22, 2018

Strangest Cars I've Raced, the first in a new series on the Marshall Pruett Podcast, kicks off with legendary driver David Hobbs and the hilarious tales of the 1972 Lola T310 Can-Am car that did everything other than perform as expected. Intended as Lola's answer to Porsche's all-conquering 917/10s with George Follmer and Mark Donohue, the T310 remains a mystery the Briton has no interest in solving...but decades later, he still doesn't mind exploring all the ways it underwhelmed.

Among the things you'll learn from Mr. Hand, he's incredibly Californian, has a bizarre explanation for why he can't dance, and considers himself a cheeseburger connoisseur...
Hand's episode quote: “Well this should be fun! Who the hell are these race car guys you ask? All I’ll say is I’m thankful this wasn’t filmed because there were a lot more shenanigans going on that you couldn’t un-see.”
